India is a land of festivals and each culture is having multiple festivals and celebrations. The country is so diverse that festivals are known by different names in the length and breadth of the country. The month of January showcases such diversity with similarities which binds us as a nation.

The festivals are a time for families to bond, heartaches and egos to be left behind and a new beginning to dream and hope for. What could be more satisfying when you get the same warmth years after year from your family, neighbours and friends when you meet. Festival time we just get amalgamated into happiness and joy.

As a society, we have to evolve and our unique culture, food, and celebrations make us a civilised society. The value system of sharing and caring, the camaraderie, festivity and the long holidays make us enriched and enchanting. We Indians are an interesting race with many strengths and opportunities. The vastness of our united country, the rich culture, history and spirituality give us hope. In fact, the world has hopes from Indians. From the snake charmers to the rocket scientist, from the handheld rickshaw puller of Kolkata to the driverless metro, the world is fascinated with us.

The fabric of we Indians are our tradition, culture and festivals. Let happiness, health and peace be part of our life and we have more such festivals centuries ahead. Let’s be festive…
