Whispers of the Earth – A Poetic Plea

The earth weeps beneath our feet
Deforestation scars her once lush skin
Trees fall like whispers in the night
Leaving emptiness, where life once flourished…

Oceans choke on our plastic waste
A graveyard of our convenience and neglect
Marine life ensnared, dying slow and unseen
Sea’s vast beauty tarnished by our hands…

Species vanish, quiet exits from a world no longer hospitable
The delicate web of life frayed, breaking extinction
A silent cry for help ignored…

Once abundant, water is a precious commodity now
Rivers run dry, communities thirsty
As we squander and pollute,
Forgetting the essence of life…

Soil turns to dust, eroded and barren
The lifeblood of the earth drained by overuse and chemicals
Our greed turning fertile land into desert…

Coral reefs, vibrant cities, beneath the waves bleach and crumble,
Victims of warming seas
A tribute to our relentless assault…

Urban sprawl encroaches, concrete suffocates green
Wildlife pushed to the fringes, displaced and lost
The natural world shrinking beneath our expansion…

Mountains of waste pile high, a legacy of our consumption
Landfills overflow, recycling efforts fall short
Toxins seep into ground and water, a silent poison…

Nuclear contamination lingers, unseen yet deadly
The cost of progress, radioactive and persistent
Future generations bear the burden of our mistakes…

Oil spills darken waters, slick death on the surface
Ecosystems collapse under the weight of our carelessness
The black tide spreads, a stain on nature’s purity…

Melting polar caps send icy warnings
Sea levels rise, islands and coasts at risk
The balance disrupted by our insatiable carbon footprint…

Overfishing empties oceans, balance undone
The bounty of the seas plundered without regard
Future sustenance sacrificed for today’s greed…

Industrial pollution clouds the air
Factories belch toxins, smog chokes cities
Health and environment pay the price…

Acid rain falls, a bitter shower from the sky
Forests wilt, lakes turn acidic
A corrosive reminder of our impact…

Desertification spreads, fertile land turns arid
Drought and misuse leave scars
The march of deserts, relentless and consuming…

Pesticides rain down, invisible killers
Bees fall silent, fields lose their voice
The bounty of the land poisoned by our quest for control…

Injustice thrives, the vulnerable bear the brunt
Marginalized communities suffer the most
Their cries for justice drowned by the powerful…

The earth cries out for change, for respect
Our actions have consequences, a moral we must heed
Sustainability, compassion, a duty to protect
Our home, fragile and finite, demands our care…
