The Rangapani Ordeal – Echoes to Learn

In the early dawn’s quiet
A train gently sway
On the Rangapani’s tracks
Where dreams found their way,
Morning light kissed the fields
Lashing to and fro green
Nature too embraced the aurora
What a tranquil scene…

Birds sang sweet insane hymns
As buds stroke the flowers awoke
Mountains stood guard aside
And whispers they all spoke,
A journey so well begun
With hearts full of cheer
Travelers sharing morning stories
Memories of far and near…

On the Kanchanjunga Express
Hopes soared aspiring high
From Agartala to Sealdah
Beneath the vast cool sky,
Yet the ill-fate intervened
With a roaring thunderous sound
Clanging with steel on steel
Hearts on hearts pulped on ground…

The goods train struck
With a sudden might
A surprise from the back
What a pathetic and tragic sight,
Dreams shattered like glass shards
Under metal heaps lives upturned
In the midst of cries and chaos
A painful melancholy lesson learned…

Few empathetic traveler’s tale
From the side window’s view
Narrowly they escaped the ordeal
Their second life born anew,
A tragedy marked on a red letter day
Will go down the history to make
Had it not been for the local villagers
More lives would have been on stake…

In memory’s hold we gather our grief
Seeking solace as longing for relief
To prevent such pain a call to the wise
Safety measures must rise to the skies,
Regular checks on every rail and tie
Technology’s watchful unblinking eye
Training for crews, alert and keen
Ensuring that every signal is seen…

Communication clear, protocols tight
Guiding each journey into the night
Automated systems, vigilant and true
Detecting faults, bringing dangers to view,
“Kavach”, the shield, our guardian in need
Preventing collisions with vigilant speed
A beacon of hope on the railway’s vast line
Ensuring each journey’s safe by design…

Community’s voice strong and aware
Reporting hazards showing they care
Investment in railways resources well-spent
A future secured will accidents prevent,
Lessons be learned from the shadows of woe
With every safeguard let care brightly glow
For in the echo of wheels on track
We promise the lost, we’ll bring safety back…

In memory’s light, let us forge ahead
Building a path where no tears are shed,
With unity and resolve our efforts combined
Ensuring safe travels for all humankind,
Candlelights for those soul departed
And futures unscathed we seek to bind
With hearts united we vow to mend
Ensuring journeys safe until the end…
