Reminiscences of Us

Reminiscences of Us

Can you recollect
the era of our youth,
those halcyon days spent
under the sun’s gaze?
We beseeched the heavens
for fair skies,
yet even when
the tempest descended,
we found solace within,
enveloped in the glow of
afternoon broadcasts,
crafting our own narratives,
irrespective of the elements…

Our daily pilgrimage to the
institution of learning was
unaccompanied by vehicular aid,
conversing fervently
about our festive anticipations,
pondering the treasures
that awaited us at home.
In our adolescent years,
we divulged our ambitions,
and as we approached the
culmination of our schooling,
I summoned the fortitude
to invite you to the grand ball…

Pursuing higher education
I ventured forth,
while you remained,
laboring and waiting patiently.
Weekends were sanctified
by our conversations,
affirming that our bond
transcended friendship,
And I confessed
an enduring truth
I had always known…

Merely a year thence,
we sought the sanctity
of matrimonial union,
navigating the tumultuous seas,
ever grateful for our
shared existence.
Our progeny,
now matured and navigating
their own odysseys,
have found our support
unwavering,
as our parents did for us…

In our twilight years,
we have endured
both mirth and melancholy,
understanding that every
shared moment held significance.
This, our shared voyage,
is a covenant
to our enduring bond,
I express my gratitude for your companionship on this path,
may you have found delight
in this reminiscence
of our love life…
