“I want children from remote villages should also get to learn English and move forward in life”

Parmeshwar Yadav, a teacher from Giridhi’s remote village is a celebrity today. People know him, appreciates him. How do feel about it?

It feels good and this is natural also. When you are trying to do something new and good and people appreciate your efforts it makes you happy. The fame that I have received, is because of my work. It is the work which I have been doing seriously and I aim to get good results out of it. I am satisfied that the results came out well and I am getting acknowledged.

People like Amitabh Bacchan and Kumar Vishwas are your fan, your take on that?

I consider myself to be blessed that such stalwarts have appreciated and encouraged me. They have encouraged me by appreciating my efforts.

You have been in the news because of your adorable teaching technique. So, what exactly is it all about?

I have always felt that, unless you are able to teach kids in accordance with their taste they don’t absorb your teaching completely. Especially for subjects like English and mathematics, it is highly essential. Hence, I chose music as a medium to teach them English alphabets and mathematical solutions.

With your new teaching technique what kind of result is showing up?

The results have been satisfactory. Children showed interest in studies and they understand their lessons better. If I would have tried teaching them normally, most probably results wouldn’t have been so positive. I want kids from remote villages should also learn English and move forward in life.

You teach by singing, so are you trained in music too?

No, I have not taken any formal training for it but I do have a fondness towards music since my childhood. During school days, I have been participating in cultural programs. I used to sing. By the way, I am a believer in music to be a part of each individual life. It is only that few keep it to themselves and few bring it out. Like I used it to teach children.

We came to know that you are still under training?

Yes, I am undergoing DLAD training. Before this, I have done my Intermediate in science and graduated in English.

The video of yours that went viral, was probably during one of your training sessions only?

Yes absolutely. This DLAD centre is located at our Giridhi plus Two High School. There we had to teach the students in presence of the trainers and teachers during our training. There I was teaching the students through my own teaching technique of singing. Mr. Birendra Kumar Verma Ji who was also undergoing this training along with me, recorded on his mobile and posted it on social media. After this, suddenly I came into people’s notice.

You must have been teaching students through this technique already?

Yes, R.P Progressive Public School of Guldadi where I teach, I have been teaching my students through this technique. To keep their lessons lucid for them I keep on looking for new techniques and imply them.

What is your take on the current education system?

Everyone is well aware of the current education system. There was a time when our country was an example for the world in terms of education but no wonder the standards have declined. In today’s world, it seems education is more about acquiring a degree. Whereas, the motif should be to use it for progress and building Nation. By progress, I mean total progress, in terms of mental and intellectual progress.

Where do you think we have lacked that we are standing here?

The policy makers have emphasised on creating policies but missed on the implementation part. If it would have been a multidimentional effort then I guess the picture would have been diferent. But it is great that we have identified our setbacks and have been putting effort towards betterment and still trying. We can hope that situation changes for betterment.
