Imphal : Two-day International Conference on Metallomics, Biodiversity, and Human Health: Recent Advances was organized by the Department of Life Sciences (Zoology), School of Life Sciences, Manipur University, Canchipur from 3rd to 4th March. A pre-conference workshop was also organized on 2nd March, for the young Ph.D. Scholars, Master students, and young faculties where Professor Wolfgang Maret of Kings College London and Dr. Alexander Morrel of London Metallomics Facility of Kings College London highlight the various techniques used in the metallomics research and also showcased London Metallomics Facility of Kings College London to the delegates through virtual mode.
The Inaugural session of the conference was graced by the Professor. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor, Manipur University while other dignitaries present in the Inaugural Function were Professor R. Varatharajan, Dean, School of Life Sciences, Manipur University, Professor M. Damayenti, Head, Department of Botany, Manipur University, Convener of the Conference, Professor N. Mohilal Meitei, Former Head of Department of Zoology, Manipur University and Professor Th. Binoy Singh, Head, Department of Zoology, Manipur University, Canchipur .
The keynote speaker was Professor Rhyzard Lobinski of the University of Pau, France. Dr. Kshetrimayum Birla Singh, organizing secretary of the Conference felicitated all the dignitaries with mementos consisting of various items related to the culture and ethos of Manipur.
Professor N. Lokendro highlighted the importance of various metals present in plants and animals for the betterment of human health and the sustainable uses of the bioresources of Manipur for advanced in-depth research for the betterment of humankind.

A mesmerising cultural programme cum traditional Manipuri dinner was also a major part of the conference where students of MSc. Zoology and Department of Dance and Music, Manipur University Canchipur showcased various traditional Dance forms of Manipur. The conference was attended by more than 300 delegates from abroad as well as within India.
