The ongoing conflict gave birth to the issue of “TRUST “within the community. What next would be the question!!!
Talking to Sanatombi of Thamnapokpi she shared her concern over such ethnic conflict. Her voice over a telephonic conversation with some long pause indeed gave a chill behind the spine.
She said,” We have lost contact with most of our relatives, some who are at Churchandpur were told not to use their phone reason being unknown. My family sells dry fish but at times we also sell wild mushrooms, and chilies which we got from our Churchandpur sisters.”
Churchandpur is basically a dry place and hardly produces anything. All kinds of daily commodities are being taken from the main market of Ima Market. Only through some hardworking women fetching wild mushrooms like “kanglayen” ( Schizophyllum commune ) a species of fungus in the genus Schizophyllum having a strong component in curing asthma and other respiratory issues, wild herbs and at times chilies. All these wild plants and herbs are available in the interior of the thick forest and also in the Thanjing mountain ranges.

The market situation remains normal seeing the numbers of buyers flocking in during the relaxed curfew hours.
Some Meitei who were being rescued yesterday had suffered a lot. Elders might be able to cope with such mental trauma in the coming days. Chances of psychological problems would be seen among youths and small children who were exposed to such violence. No one could be blamed but would these things be taken lightly?
Congress party claims and points fingers at the State Government and Home Department who acted very slowly while transferring several displaced people from relief camps in sensitive areas to safer locations.
