With the vision ‘One for all, all for one’ KRC Foundation a North East based trust working in the field of media, training, events & consulting launched ‘Media Welfare Group’ (MWG) this Republic Day with the aim to unite media communities. The mission of MWG would be to create a media ecosystem for sustainable development. On this occasion, the Managing Trustee of KRC Foundation, Biswadeep Gupta released the code of conduct for the members of MWG.
The membership is subsidised for media personnel including non-journalist members, the support team of media organisations, and owners. Others can also become members of the same in the following category
- Patron (individual with specific skills who can contribute to MWG’s movement)
- Intern (students/citizens can undertake a short internship and a certificate will be issued)
- Volunteer (To participate in events and causes)
- Sponsors (Individual/organisation)
The Managing Trustee stated that this is a CSR project that the foundation has started for the welfare of media personnel. One can send an email to krcfoundation@gmail.com stating their interest in becoming a member and submit their details. The interested person will be offered membership on the basis of the criterion laid down by the foundation.
‘One for all, all for one’ is a welfare movement says Biswadeep. He further echoed that there are many contributions that can be offered by a variety of people towards making a sustainable media ecosystem and the foundation is looking forward to attracting many resourceful people to be associated with this campaign. It is completely voluntary, and transparent, with fellow feelings. ‘We intend to act as a catalyst in uniting the media fraternity as one’ he said.
‘Media is an important pillar of democracy and until and unless this fourth pillar is not taken care the society at large will face unholy consequences. It is the duty of all to culture, support, understand and contribute towards the ‘Fourth Estate’ of the democracy’, said Biswadeep Gupta, who is the Chief Advisor and Founder of KRC Foundation Media Welfare Group.
The MWG will act as a catalyst in the growth of the media movement through its activities. MWG will work in the following 5 areas as well as a quarterly calendar is being prepared besides the membership drive and constituting various state & district-level committees:
- KRC Media Awards
- KRC Media Welfare Fund
- KRC Media Workshops
- KRC Media Outreach
- KRC Media Talks
KRC Media award shall be annually given on every 12th January and many sponsored awards shall be constituted at the local level for media excellence.
KRC Media Welfare Fund will be utilised for the welfare activity of media personnel in need. KRC Foundation Media Welfare Group (MWG) is conceptualised with the idea of camaraderie towards the media community as a whole and to offer fellow feelings in times of need through the Foundation’s means and reach.
KRC Media Workshop is skilling up activities of the foundation and shall be conducted by professionals to upgrade the skills of journalists. These will be a paid program and shall be subsidised and made affordable. The proceeds of the program will be added to the welfare fund.
KRC Media Outreach is a non-competitive, integrated approach between media owners and houses towards a united platform. These will provide a forum for handling challenges and issues with a joint effort.
KRC Media Talk shall be a regular feature of MWG that will be shared, delivered, and performed for the benefit of media personnel as a whole. This is going to be the motivational fuel for the fraternity.
