Diphu :   One picnicker died on the spot while four others received serious injury; ten others also were injured near the trendy picnic spot Langbaku, when the TATA Winger van bearing Registration No. AS 21C 1376 fell into a gorge owing to brake failure today.The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Kro; according to police the picnic party came from neighboring district Morigaon and was about to reach the spot where a magnificent waterfall exists.

Suddenly the braking system of the vehicle developed technical snag, the driver of the vehicle failed to keep the automobile in track in the hilly terrain and slid into the gorge. Lamentably, the departed youth Rakesh Kro, joined the picnic party from Manja which is a few kilometers from Langbaku.

All the injured persons have been admitted in Diphu Medical College and Hospital where the condition of four persons have been stated to be critical.It is worthwhile to mention here that in the last two years around one hundred fifty persons have lost their lives in road accidents in this district; in the month of January 2023 till now eight persons have lost their lives in road mishaps.
