Guwahati: To apprise union home minister Amit Shah of the prevailing situation in Manipur about 15 MLAs who are believed to be the closest aides of chief minister N Biren Singh have reached Guwahati on Thursday.
Shah is on a tour in Guwahati and the Manipur MLAs seem to have decided to use the opportunity of meeting the home minister here in Guwahati.
According to sources, two more Northeastern parties too have reached Guwahati and they include Conrad Sangma led national People’s party (NPP) and Naga People’s Front (NPF).
The Manipur delegation is being led by L Susindro Meitei. Sources reveal that the Manipur delegates will try to make Shah understand the prevailing ground realities in their trouble-torn state.
Singh is facing criticism from the principal opposition party Congress regarding his handling of the current situation in the state. Singh’s followers are expected to share their side of the story with Shah, sources said.
