Imphal, 16th April: It was just one day after the annual New Year celebration of Sajibu Cheiraouba certain parts of Bishnupur, Kakching, Churchandpur and some outskirts area faced a stormy rain on Monday. Three lost their lives, two from Churchandpur district and one from kakching district.

Additional Chief Secretary in charge of Relief & Disaster Management, Government of Manipur, and SM H Khan went for an inspection on Wednesday in Bishnupur and Kakching Districts.

According to kakching Correspondent it was reported that around about 1000 houses got affected and 150 houses got severely damaged where most of the tinned roof was broken down and some went flying across many houses and landed on the fields.

The Commissioner of Relief & Disaster Management distributed cheques to the families of victims who died and sustained injuries in yesterday’s cyclone. 

Relief materials were also distributed to families whose houses were damaged by the strong wind and are currently taking shelter in relief camps.

According to some sources the said department is undertaking extensive visits to other disaster hit districts. At present the State Government is collecting detailed assessment reports from the respective Deputy Commissioners of the affected districts and a memorandum is being submitted to the Government of India for soliciting financial relief package for distribution to the calamity affected families.
