Including 3360, bottles of whiskey, 72, cans of Beer, and one jerrican (20 liters) of Local Liquor
Imphal : A total of 3360 bottles of whiskey worth around Rs 4.5 lakhs in the regional markets originated from Myanmar and smuggled into dry state Manipur through Churachandpur district have been seized, an official statement said here on Wednesday.
Conducted under the banner of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), the sleuths of the paramilitary forces, in a meticulously planned operation, successfully recovered Myanmar liquor in Songdoi village of Manipur’s Churachandpur District, on September 12, 2023, the statement said.
Based on specific intelligence received from trusted sources, the Assam Rifles’ units launched the operation in the general vicinity of Nala Junction, Songdoi, leading to the confiscation of Myanmar liquor, including 3360, bottles of whiskey, 72, cans of Beer, and one jerrican (20 liters) of Local Liquor. The recovered liquor has been handed over to the Singhat Police Station for further investigation, the statement added.
