Imphal : A total of 41 firearms, 4 bombs, and ammunition have been recovered amidst the situation in the violence-hit Manipur is tense with sporadic incidents of firing, arson, and congregation of protestors during the past 24 hours.
According to a press statement issued by the Manipur Police Control Room, on Tuesday, search operations were conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Kangpokpi and Imphal-West districts by security forces in which 5 single bore rifles, 4 country-made improvised bomb launchers, 36 single-bore rounds, 1 walkie-walkie with charger and 8 mobile phones were recovered.
Firing by miscreants and burying of a few houses were reported from adjoining areas of Thinungei Makthak, Phubala, and Pangjang areas. Security forces rushed to the spot and repelled the crowd and controlled the situation, the statement said.
