A Mukna Stadium will be Constructed Soon

Chief Minister said that the present government is keen to preserve the indigenous games of the State.

Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh announced that a Mukna Stadium will be constructed soon in the State to preserve and protect the dying indigenous game and also to keep our younger generation fit and healthy. He made announcement at the closing ceremony of the First State Level Mukna Takhatnaba 2019 held in Imphal West on Sunday. 

Speaking as the Chief Guest of the function, Chief Minister said that the present government is keen to preserve the indigenous games of the State. He stated that the Annual Indigenous Martial Arts Meet will be organised as a calendar event of the State Government from this year onwards. The meet will be held during 18th– 22nd December, 2019, he added. He said that he is indeed happy that local clubs are organising such tournaments to revive the indigenous games and sports of the State.

Chief Minister maintained that Manipur have been affected by rampant drug menace and alcoholism and such will have adverse impact in the present and future generation. He hinted that some unknown groups/organisations are executing an undercurrent war in the society using drugs as a weapon for mass destruction of the present and future generation of the State. The people of the State need to understand such situation so that we could save the generations to come, he added.

The two day State Level Mukna Takhatnaba 2019 is being organised by Iramdamgi Eenat Yokhat Lup and Eikhoigee Club under the aegis of All Manipur Mukna Association.

Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly K. Robindro, MLA of Sekmai AC H. Dingo Singh, MLA of Yaiskhul AC, Th. Satyabrata Singh and others attended the programme.
