Manipur police in its routine cordon and search operation arrested a ruthless extortionist cum active member of an underground group and recovered one arm (9 MM pistol, 3 ammunition, three mobile handsets, and Rs 45,000 from his possession.

The arrest and seizure were made from a hideout at Imphal West District, a Manipur police daily report states.

The arrested person was involved in extortion activities in Imphal. However, his name was not mentioned in the report. Search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphjal West, Kakching, and Thoubal districts.
