The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to withdraw its candidate from the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat in Assam, shifting its focus to the Dibrugarh and Sonitpur constituencies for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
While AAP will not contest in Guwahati, it has confirmed its participation in the electoral race for the Dibrugarh and Sonitpur constituencies in Assam.
However, the opposition parties had already nominated AJP leader Lurinjyoti Gogoi as their joint candidate for the Dibrugarh seat in Assam.
In another noteworthy development, Assam Congress president Bhupen Borah has reached out to AAP, CPI and CPI-M with a proposal to forge an alliance for the 2026 assembly elections in the state.
This overture suggests a potential realignment in the political landscape of Assam, signalling a desire for collaboration among opposition parties to challenge the status quo.
