Haflong : Reiterating the demands for proper passengers’ amenities like stoppage of four important trains, Foot Over Bridge and Reservation counter at Maibang Railway station, the All Dimasa Students’ Union Maibang zone warned that if the Railway authority fails to implement all the amenities as demanded by the people soon, the organization would be bound to call for a Rail blockade very soon.

Mairing Johori, General Secretary, Central Committee, ADSU informed that they have been repeatedly communicating the Railway authority at Maligaon for the implementation of proper passenger’s amenities at Maibang since long and also held discussions regarding the people’s demands and the Railway authority had been assuring to fulfill their demands but with some pleas of local issues.

Johori experiencing such delay- dallying tactics of the Railway said ‘we have lost trust on Railway authority since the Railway authority seemed to buying time on the pleas after pleas’ as a result of which we are being compelled to launch strong agitation against the Railway authority soon.

People of Maibnag in particular expressed their happiness on the decision of Railway Ministry to make New Haflong Railway station a world-class Station with all the passengers’ amenities but failed to understand as to why the Railway authority could not do the justice to the demands of Maibang people even after loss of several lives in run over incidents due to lack of foot over bridge at Maibang.

It is also said that Maibang being the ancient capital city of Dimasa Kingdom is always considered to be an important place for many but the negligence of the Railway authority towards Maibang caused concern among the people of Dima Hasao as a whole.
