Age-Old Kharchi Puja Begins in Tripura

The age-old Kharchi Puja of Tripura was inaugurated by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in the states erstwhile capital Puran Habeli, The puja was inaugurated in the presence of a huge gathering.

Kharchi Puja is a Hindu festival from Tripura, India. The festival involves the worship of the fourteen gods forming the dynasty deity of the Tripuri people. The annual “Kharchi Puja” and festival is meant to cleanse the sins of mortal souls. Originally a Hindu tribals’ festivity, it is now observed by all communities and religions

The age-old Kharchi Puja of Tripura was inaugurated by  Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in the states erstwhile capital Puran Habeli, The puja was inaugurated in the presence of a huge gathering.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people of Tripura on Twitter. “Greetings to everyone, especially the people of Tripura on the start of the auspicious Kharchi Pooja. May Chaturdash Devata bless everyone with happiness, good health, and prosperity.”

Inaugurating the festival, The Chief Minister declared that the theme of this years Kharchi Puja Mela would be ‘Nesha Mukta Tripura and Save Water’.

During this period people of all caste and culture get united to celebrate the festival. This festival does not remain confined to only the people of Tripura. People across the world visit this part of the state to participate in the festival.
