Imphal : A joint team of Assam Rifles, Imphal West Commando team, and Sekmai Police, based on reliable input pertaining to the presence of war-like stores conducted a search operation in Champirok, near Khongnangpokpi, Imphal West district on Wednesday night.

According to an official report, the joint team recovered one M16 Rifle, one 12 Bore Single Barrel Gun, two 9mm Pistol, eight No 36 Hand Grenades, ten Grenade Launching Tubes, Two INSAS Rifle Magazines, Thirty rounds of ammunition, and war-like stores.

The seized weapons, ammunition, and control stores were handed over to Sekmei Police Station. Following the snatching and lotting of over 5000 weapons by actioners of the ongoing communal clashes between the Kukis and Meites, the security forces and Police carried out various raids at different suspected places during the past few weeks.
