in major counterinsurgency success, 27th Assam Rifles apprehended two persons carrying 1785 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and 6 cartridges of 12 bore ammunition in Hungpung under Manipur’s Ukhrul district, considered a stronghold of NSCN IM.
The arrested persons have been identified as Honlei Shinglai (37 years) of Ashang Khullen Village and Nelson Lungleng (49 years) of Mapum village.

As per available information, Honlei Shinglai is a Church Clerk and they were going to deliver the ammunition to one Weapon Lungleng of Viewland, Ukhrul.
The two arrested persons and seized ammunition were handed over to the Ukhrul Police station.
Accordingly, an FIR No. 6 (7) 2019 Ukl PS has been registered in this matter. The two is suspected to be linked with underground groups stated the paramilitary force that arrested them.
This successful operation came after another operation in Tamenglong district that led to arrest of one active NSCN IM cadre and a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
