Bhabesh Kalita said that the meeting would cover several topics, including the bye-elections for the five assembly constituencies
Guwahati : Ahead of the bye-elections for five assembly constituencies and the Panchayat polls in Assam, a crucial executive meeting of the state’s BJP party will be held on Sunday in Guwahati. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Pabitra Margherita, Assam BJP President Bhabesh Kalita, and other senior leaders will attend the meeting.
Key issues, including the upcoming elections, are expected to be discussed. State BJP president Bhabesh Kalita said that the meeting would cover several topics, including the bye-elections for the five assembly constituencies.
“This meeting will be attended by Assam-in-charge Harish Dwivedi, senior leaders, and the Chief Minister. We will discuss the upcoming bye-elections for the five assembly constituencies,” Kalita said while speaking to ANI.
Earlier, on July 24, Assam Minister Atul Bora discussed the bye-elections and panchayat elections, noting that the government planned to reform the grassroots units of the state before August 31.
“We had extensive discussions with our colleagues today. The meeting included central executive members and district president secretaries. With the bye-elections and panchayat elections being imminent, we decided to reform our grassroots-level units before August 31,” Bora said.
“We will hold meetings in every constituency as part of this decision. Additionally, this time, no elections will be held for specific symbols. Instead, each ward’s members will be carefully selected, with two members chosen per ward. We have also decided to organize a workshop in August and have formed a committee for this purpose,” he added.
