Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal briefed the prime minister over the phone about the current situation and the relief, rescue, and rehabilitation work undertaken by the state government.
Altogether 42.87 lakh people in 4,157 villages are reeling under the impact of the floods that have submerged 1, 53,211 hectares of farmland in 30 districts, according to the daily report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
According to sources, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will undertake aerial surveys in Upper Assam today. Later, he will also hold a review meeting with senior Assam Government ministers and officials in Guwahati.
Several ministers including Chief Minister, Sonowal are visiting flood-affected areas. More than 27 lakh people have been affected in 28 districts in the current fury of floods.
