The National Highway Authority has sanctioned the plantation in order to improve green coverage in the state.
The Assam Government is planning to plant sapling spread over one thousand kilometers across the National Highways.
The State Forest and Environment Minister Parimal Suklabaidya informed that this initiative has been taken to improve green coverage in the state.
He said that the National Highway Authority of India has sanctioned the plantation at 810 kilometers area.
Suklabaidya had shared that the efforts are on to take the sanction of the remaining areas within this work. He said that a variety of saplings will be planted near the national highways.
