Haflong : Governor of Assam Gulab Chand Kataria unveiled the statue of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Father of the Indian Constitution at Haflong on Thursday. Governor was accompanied by First Lady Anita Kataria, Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa, Chairperson, Ranu Langthasa, and others.
In this connection, a meeting was also held where in Governor appreciated the entire council team led by CEM Gorlosa for honoring the nation’s great personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhas, Dr. B R Ambedkar, etc by installing their statues in Dima Hasao. He said we should always respect our great personalities who have contributed a lot to the country. He also explained the brief life sketch of Dr Ambedkar and his contribution.

This was followed by an inspection of the progress of the Dilaobra Sangibra MoS project. Then he went to Haflong Civil Hospital and made a round starting from Out Patient Department (OPD), Emergency, and Laboratory, blood bank, and interaction with patients at the O&G ward. Then he inspected the central programs like Pradhan Mantri Dialysis Centre and PM care oxygen plant.
This was followed by interaction with doctors and other staff at the superintendent’s office.The governor also visited the tourist spots near Jatinga. He inspected the stalls showcasing local products.Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria compared Haflong with Mount Abu of Rajasthan in terms of mesmerizing natural beauty of Haflong and pleasant weather.
Governor was briefing to the media after completing his days program including unveiling of Dr BR Ambedkar statue, inspection of Dilaobra MoS project, Haflong Civil Hospital and tourist place at Jatinga.
He said he was here to take stock of development works done under central and State government also to understands the challenges of implementing these projects. He suggested the implementing agencies, District and Council authorities to work for the benefit of public.
Appreciating the Haflong Civil Hospital authority for having facilities for children in the hospital he said health care for children is always very important.
As his message to the people of Dima Hasao Governor said he was very happy to see the people of Dima Hasao comprising various tribes and communities living with peace and harmony since long. He wants this harmonious relationship between all the people of Dima Hasao should be everlasting and if anything arises that should be sorted out by holding talks across the table, he added.
