Haflong : Assam Minister for Power, Mines & Minerals, Co-operations etc Nandita Gorlosa ceremonially distributed cheques to the beneficiaries under Chief Minister’s Relief Fund at the District Library Auditorium in presence of Chief Executive Member and Executive Members on Thursday. At least 417 people under the 16-Haflong (ST) LAC were financially benefitted for pursuing their technical and non-technical studies including 17 people who were given medical assistances for their treatment under this scheme.
Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa attended the ceremony along with Executive Members of Council like Nipolal Hojai, Projit Hojai, Nojit Kemprai, Bijit Langthasa, Dist Planning Board Vice President Donphainon Thaosen and Deputy Commissioner, Simanta Kumar Das, ACS and other dignitaries.
During her speech, Assam Minister Nandita Gorlosa informed that the total number of beneficiaries have been increased than the previous time to ensure more coverage of the people in need. “17 numbers of people who are suffering from serious illness can advance further for better treatment and those pursuing their studies can utilise the amount of the first installment”, she said.
The second installment will be deposited to their account directly as informed by the minister. Encouraging students to also take up the teaching profession she expressed her dissatisfaction about how thousands of vacancies are lying for various posts of teachers reserved for aspirants from the two hilly districts, but due to lack of applicants, there are vacancies. Overwhelmed about the increasing Cancer cases in Dima Hasao, she requested the Principal of Haflong Government College to do a survey on the cause of this disease.
CEM Debolal Gorlosa spoke about how the government has been working for the development of the people and that it is under this effort that people are being benefited. The council in its continues attempt to help the people esp. those who are financially weak have taken various steps such as monthly assistance to the students who are perusing their medical course, hostels for the students who are aspiring their services in competitive examinations, coaching classes for those who are unable to afford the cost etc. in state capital as well as in national capital.
CEM Gorlosa also informed the people present that how with the help of the Chief Minister, the Assam government and central government various job opportunities and skill enhancing opportunities have been given to this district by completion of the Skill Development centre and other schemes. He however emphasized that people of this district should also serve their people here when given an opportunity as this will not only help the rural people with the comfort of the local language but also encourage in perusing their studies and career.
Welcome speech was delivered by DC Simanata Kr. Das briefing about the scheme and how under this scheme the beneficiaries are given immense assistance. Later Executive Member Nipolal Hojai also delivered a small speech praising the effort of the government in helping the people of this district in need.
