By inking a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dr Ambedkar Foundation, Assam University, on Saturday formally inaugurated Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence (DACE).
The primary objective of this centre will be to prepare students belonging to scheduled caste communities (SC) for various competitive exams—the thrust area will be on exams conducted by various state public service commissions and Union Public Service Commission.
Keeping in sync with various other central universities, Assam University has become the 31st central university to start this special centre under the aegis of the ministry of social justice and empowerment.
Assam minister for transport and fisheries Parimal Suklabaidya was the chief guest in today’s event. He appreciated the gesture of Assam University for responding to this call of the Union ministry of social justice and empowerment.
“Undoubtedly this small step is going to benefit the students who belong to the SC community. Proper coaching and guidance are required to crack various competitive exams. I congratulate all the students on getting selected for this special class. I would also like to request the faculty members to ensure that these students representing the downtrodden section of the society get the right guidance as it will help them shine in their life,” Suklabaidya observed.
Professor Asoke Kumar Sen, Vice Chancellor in –charge, Assam University, graced the occasion as chief guest. Dr Pradosh Kiran Nath, Registrar of Assam University, delivered the vote of thanks.
The programme was anchored by Dr Vivek Verma, programme coordinator and Dr Pulak Dhar, assistant registrar, Assam University.
