Assam varsity hosts C20 Chaupal meet

Silchar MP said that India’s stature has increased manifold in the world and he also talked about the importance of G20 summit that is being held in India

Silchar: Centre for Studies in Human Development (CSHD) in association with Sewa International organised C20 Chaupal at Assam University on Tuesday. Lok Sabha MP from Silchar Dr Rajdeep Roy was the chief guest in the programme and the guest of honours was Swathi Ram of Sewa International and Dr Shankar Bhattacharjya president of Sanskrit Bharati.

Professor Rajive Mohan Pant, vice chancellor Assam University, Dr Pradosh Kiran Nath Registrar Assam University and Professor Niranjan Roy Director CSHD also graced the occasion with their presence.This programme was organised to hold a discussion on the ongoing G 20 summit in India—the aim was to assess its impact in India.

The theme for C 20 Chaupal at Assam University was National Education Policy (NEP) and the ancient heritage of India. Chaupal is always considered as a democratic platform where views from diverse minds are exchanged. On G20 summit Silchar MP said that India’s stature has increased manifold in the world and he also talked about the importance of G20 summit that is being held in India.

On NEP, Dr Shankar Bhattacharjya said that we all need to take a leaf out of our glorious past heritage. “India is known for her selfless service. The decisions and policies that we are framing today will help India become a stronger nation tomorrow,” he observed.

The Registrar of Assam University in his speech talked about the importance of holding C20 Chaupal meet at the university. Professor Pant in his speech talked about G20 and the role played by India in today’s world affairs.The vote of thanks was delivered by CSHD Director Professor Roy.

The inaugural session was anchored by Dr Jayasree Dey. Programme manager of Sewa International Dr Sanjib Sheel, Dr Debatosh Chakraborty, Dr Paromita Das, Proctor of Assam University Dr Himadri Shekhar Das, Dr Gangesh Bhattacharjya and Dr Kalyan Dey among others were also present at the event.
