Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, on Monday, gave a message to women to follow their dreams with passion and enthusiasm and make proper use of their talent and flair to lead a successful life.
Speaking at an event organised by District Administration Cachar in connection with the celebration of “Nari Shakti” on the occasion of International women’s day at Goldighi Mall on Monday, Jalli said women often hesitate to follow their dreams because of various societal pressures and hindrances, but they should always listen to their heart and follow their dreams fervently. “Break the shackles in the path of your dreams and work hard to achieve milestones,” she said, in an endeavour to encourage women who doubt their talent and capabilities and hesitate to follow their dreams in life.
She said today’s women are competing with men in various fields and proving that they are equally capable in everything. “Gone are the days when women used to remain confined inside houses. Today’s women are transcending all boundaries and creating histories with their achievements,” she added.
About International Women’s Day, she said “the day is to re-evaluate, re-question various aspects related to the status and significance of women in the society. Women should also make a promise on this day that they would strive to achieve more progress and prosperity so that they can proudly say “hum kisise kam nahi (we are not lesser than anyone)”.
Jalli mentioned that for the first time in the district 180numbers of Polling stations will be run by women out of 1834numbers of polling stations in Cachar and urged all women to show that even women can perform tasks which were initially thought could be performed only by men.
It’s worth mentioning that International Women’s Day as ” Nari Shakti” in collaboration with District Administration, Cachar was held at Goldighi Mall, Silchar on Monday. The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Cachar Keerthi Jalli, Election Officer, Cachar, Navanita Hazarika, District Elementary Education Officer, Sumitra Deb and Dean’s and Head of the Department of Assam University, NIT and Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
SPO, Ruli Daolagaphu gave the welcome address, in her speech she mentioned that when women move society moves and nation moves, women have to be more strong and ambitious in their own way. She encouraged the women to cast their vote for assembly election 2021 without the support of women society can not to flourish properly.
While speaking on the occasion Election officer Navanita Hazarika said “women have a fierce and robust spirit which is celebrated every year on 8th of March, International Women’s day, it is one day where women are recognised and appreciated for all the hard work and dedication”.
She said empowerment of women is a great responsibility that needs to be shouldered. The world becomes a better place when women don’t feel hardships to exist, be it on a street at night or on a bus or at public places, she mentioned.
Citing a famous quote by Kavita Ramdas Hazarika said “we need women who are so strong that they can be gentle,so educated,they can be humble,so fierce they can be compassionate,so passionate they can be rational and so disciplined that they can be free”.
A flash mob and a Short skit were also displayed on the occasion by NGO Shaksham. The programme was enlightened with the felicitation of the women inspirational figure of the district like the Deans and Heads of the Departments of Assam University, NIT and Silchar Medical College and Hospital along with felicitation of three best Anganwadi supervisors, Workers and Helpers, two best Mahila Safai Karmi and three best ANMs and ASHA workers for their performances in their respective fields and motivating them as well as others to work hard and break the gender stereotypes with a Memento and a Certificates.
16 numbers of Women presiding officers who are engaged in the upcoming Assembly election,2021 were also felicitated on the occasion with traditional uttorio and “Garv Cachar” badges for boosting them up for doing their duties smoothly.

The programme ended with the deliberation of speech by invited guests on the occasion followed by a Vote of Thanks by District Social welfare officer Saswati Shome.
