Barak Valley | Cachar bags prestigious SKOCH award

Based on the result of this mission, the Social welfare Department Cachar along with District Administration Cachar presented the entire project in front of the judges of SKOCH Group

The project PARVARISH of the social welfare Department under the flagship of Deputy Commissioner Cachar Keerthi Jalli, has been awarded the SKOCH Award for its Socio-economic economic approaches to eradicate Malnutrition from the children of age group 6 months to 5 years. 

The programme which was launched during the poshan maah 2020 by Deputy Commissioner Cachar in presence of District Social welfare Officer Cachar, aims to reduce the number of malnourished children who are below the poverty line and couldn’t provide nutritious food to their children. 

The main objective of this mission is to provide nutritious food to those children through kind and upliftment their nutritional status as a result of this several Govt Organisations, Local Govt. Bodies, NGO’S and local businessmen join hands and came together to help those malnourished children. Overall 800 children got support till now under this mission PARVARISH out of which 704 children successfully recovered from the severely acute malnourish stage. 

During this year poshan maah, 100% severely acutely malnourished children under the age group of 2 years to 5 years were adopted by community, M.P and MLA’S of different constituency with PARVARISH and 90% children were recovered from their early stage of malnourishment. 

Based on the result of this mission, the Social welfare Department Cachar along with District Administration Cachar presented the entire project in front of the judges of SKOCH Group and it was conferred with SKOCH Award for its innovative approaches for creating nutrition awareness.

Minister for forest, Environment, Excise & Fishery Department, Parimal Suklabaidya has expressed his pleasure over the achievement of the Cachar Administration. Sharing his reaction, The Minister said” “Heartiest congratulations to the Cachar administration for bagging the prestigious SKOCH award. This award will provide the administration the impetus to eradicate fully malnutrition among children and also inspire other districts to emulate the efforts of Cachar administration in the fight against malnutrition.”

While sharing his reaction MP Silchar, Dr Rajdeep Roy said “I Congratulate Cachar DC and her entire team for bagging the prestigious award. The award will go as a symbol of devotion to work and dedication in this pandemic situation. Health and Nutrition are priority areas of our Government. Health remains one of the key areas in our quest of building an inclusive and new India”.

Reacting to the achievement of the Cachar Administration, MLA, Silchar, Dipayan Chakraborty said “This is a proud moment for Cachar district. The initiative is an endeavour to fight malnutrition through multimodal intervention to prevent further diseases”.

 “We remain firmly committed to providing affordable and quality healthcare to the poor, needy and disadvantaged sections of the society. The emphasis on health and nutrition will surely make a lasting contribution in furthering healthcare to every nook and corner of the country”. Chakraborty added.

Cachar DC, Keerthi Jalli also shared her ecstasy on this remarkable achievement, She said “It’s a matter of great pride and honor for us as the Cachar District Administration has been conferred with SKOCH silver award for its response to eradicate malnutrition”. 

This prestigious award would be an inspiration to others in this critical time. Instituted in 2003, SKOCH Award salutes people, projects and institutions that go the extra mile to make India a better nation.
