Covid testing is suspended at Silchar Airport at Kumbhirgram from yesterday till 25th of this month, informed Sumit Sattawan, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. This is being done looking into the presence of security forces deputed in connection with a large number of VVIPS scheduled to visit from today till 25th of the month in Barak Valley for various Government as well as political meetings.

Sattawan also informed that passengers are advised to get tested at their convenience in various public health centres in Cachar or in Civil Hospital Silchar, nearest from the Silchar Airport is in Udharbond. The administration is going to monitor the health of the passengers through their established contact tracing system, he admitted while being asked on how the administration is going to keep a track of passenger’s well being.

Also, in an advisory issued by the district administration, passengers are urged to report Silchar Airport at Kumbhirgram ahead of time due to these VVIPs movement. Looking into the host of Government functions and political party meetings in Barak Valley from December 22 to 25, the Administration issued the advisory.
