Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), a Central Public Sector Undertaking ( PSU) under the administrative control of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Govt. of India will organize SAKSHAM 2021 Cyclothon in Silchar, Assam on 31^st of January. The Cyclothon will commence from Police Parade Ground at 6.00 AM. The event will be organized with due consideration of social distancing protocols to combat COVID-19.

Deputy Speaker, Assam Legislative Assembly, Aminul Haque Laskar has consented to be the Chief Guest and flag off the rally from Police Parade Ground, Silchar. MLAs of Cachar along with DC Cachar  Keerthi Jalli, SP Cachar B L Meena, are expected to grace the event. Support has also been sought from District Sports officer and Sports bodies, Inspector of Schools, NIT Silchar, Silchar Medical College and Assam University to draw participation from students.

SAKSHAM  Cyclothon is being organized in 300 cities simultaneously across the country on the same day i e 31st January 2021 by Oil and Gas PSUs as part of SAKSHAM ( Sanrakshan Khshamta Mahotsav) 2021, a month-long awareness drive spearheaded by Petroleum Conservation Research Association ( PCRA) under the tagline Green and Clean Energy. The objective of SAKSHAM  is to seek citizens to participate in fuel conservation for health & environment protection and simultaneously help in reducing India’s dependency on import of crude oil. Several events have been lined up for the month-long campaign.

NRL appeals to citizens of Silchar from all walks of life to participate in the event and make it a grand success.
