SILCHAR : With the objective to restore normalcy in Silchar in the Cachar district of Assam, which has witnessed violence in the past two days, the Cachar district administration and police authorities launched an initiative “Operation Sampriti” here on Saturday.
As part of the initiative, the Cachar administration initiated extensive mobile announcements in sensitive areas of Silchar town appealing to people not to pay any heed to any rumours and maintain peace and harmony.The announcement further stated that if anyone is found indulging in fresh violence and spreading hateful messages against any community on social media, strict action will be taken as per law.
In a message, Cachar DC Rohan Kumar Jha made an appeal to the people not to take the law into their hands. The administration is always there for the people, if someone receives any threats or gets abused it should be brought immediately to the notice of the nearest police outpost.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta also stated that the police administration is keeping a close watch on the recent incidents that happened in the district and already apprehended the person who was involved in disturbing the communal harmony of the district.
