14 dogs were being illegally transported from Algapur to Mizoram

On Wednesday, information was received from members of the Ashroy Animal Welfare Society of Karimganj and the Sporsho organization of Silchar that a vehicle had been coming from Karimganj loaded with a number of dogs for slaughter in the nearby state and accordingly police team rushed to the place and intercepted a Wagon-R car bearing registration no. AS-10E-2913 at ISBT Silchar, where 14 dogs were being illegally transported from Algapur to Mizoram through ISBT Ramnagar.

The accused persons  Rejul Hussain Barbhuiya,  Abdul Islam Mazumdar, and  Anowar Hussain Barbhuiya were arrested and upon reaching the spot police recovered the animals and took all necessary actions as per the provisions of the law. 

In this connection, Silchar PS case no. 432/2024 U/S 120(B)/379/413 IPC and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and further lawful action has been initiated.
