JNH (CC).Haflong, Dima Hasao, Assam, Haflong, Dima Hasao on Friday. They stated that the claiming of their identity as belonging to the greater “Dimasa Kachari” Tribe, is a self-proclamation made without the consent and authorization of the greater Dimasa Society.Their claims of belonging to the stock of the greater Dimasa Kachari Tribe without authentic document/documents for reference to prove and establish their linkage with greater Dimasa society is unprecedented and cannot be accepted at any cost.Henceforth, they outrageously reject and denounce their claims and views it as attempt to assassinate the rich history and identity of the Dimasa Kachari Tribe.
Obviously their intention may be that, by falsely aligning and framing themselves with us (Dimasa Kachari) would gain them ST (Plain) Status in the line of our people living outside Sixth Schedule District, is utterly a mischievous act because they were never ever a part of greater Dimasa Kachari Stock. Therefore, we strongly express our anguish against the unconstitutional proclamation of the Barman Community living in BTR as Barman Dimasa Kachari, spearheaded by the self-proclaimed organization like All Barman Dimasa Kachari Students’ Union (ABDKSU) and All Barman Dimasa Kachari Socio-Cultural Organization (ABDKSCO), BTR, Assam. It is also observed that Bishu is going to be celebrated by them on 9th & 10th March 2024 which is condemnable.
Infact the word Bishu itself is a Dimasa word named to a post harvest festival celebrated by the greater Dimasa Community every year on 27th January. Therefore the use of the word Bishu in the celebration for reason it may be by the Barman Community who are non Dimasa origin is strictly prohibited and liable for condemnation which they are doing.
