The Congress stand on the matter was also very clear during the AICC leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state
Imphal : The Congress party on Monday held a press conference in Imphal and slammed Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education, Dr. RK Ranjan for making a baseless allegation against the past Congress regime.
Former Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh echoed that blaming the Congress party for the present crisis in this critical juncture is unfounded and the Congress does not want to engage in debates. People are not interested to hear such allegations and counter-allegations, he said.
Dr. RK Ranjan who is the Member of parliament from Manipur had on Sunday stated in a news channel that the crisis brewing in Manipur is due to the wrongdoings committed by the former Congress government of Manipur.
Ibobi further said that the Congress party had never tried to politicise the current problem and is appealing for normalcy in the state along with other political parties. The Congress stand on the matter was also very clear during the AICC leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state.
However, the Congress was compelled to clarify as the Union minister came up with the allegation, Ibobi also said.
The former Chief Minister also said that the Congress supported the demand for summoning a special session of the Manipur Assembly to discuss the crisis as demanded by various organisations of the state.
Ibobi hit back at RK Ranjan that he was silent when MLAs across the political party wanted PM’s intervention and that there was no action by Dr. Ranjan then.
