Guwahati : Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has strongly criticized the government’s handling of pressing national issues and accused the BJP of neglecting parliamentary traditions during the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha.

Gogoi highlighted several critical concerns, stating, “From Day 1, they are neglecting the burning issues of this country whether it is Manipur, unemployment, heatwave, exam related controversy. Within Parliament, they are not following the tradition of Parliament.”

In a sharp rebuke, Gogoi emphasized the significance of a Dalit pro-tem Speaker administering the oath to MPs from diverse backgrounds, saying, “It is a sad day, it’s a loss for Dalit community, it’s not a loss for INDIA alliance, but today there was an opportunity for Dalit community to see a Dalit pro-tem Speaker administer oath to MPs of all religions and castes. The BJP denied the Dalit community a historic opportunity.”

Addressing the ongoing controversy surrounding the NEET examination, Gogoi called for accountability at the highest levels, demanding the resignation of both the NTA chairman and the Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan. “Not only the NTA chairman, the education Minister should be removed.

How can Dharmendra Pradhan continue when it was under his reign that the NTA has administered so many faults and loopholes and so many students have been deprived of opportunities,” Gogoi asserted.
