Cyrus Mistry died when his Mercedes car hit the divider on a bridge over the Surya river at Palghar district of Maharashtra

Former Chairman of Tata Sons, Cyrus Mistry aged 54 passed away in a tragic road accident at Charoti in the Palghar district of Maharashtra.

Local police said Mistry died when his Mercedes car hit the divider on a bridge over the Surya river. He was travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. Along with Mistry, there were three others in the car, among them, one more person died in the car mishap, while two others injured have been hospitalised.

Several prominent politicians and industrialists tweeted their condolences after the news of Mistry’s sad demise was reported. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Mistry’s demise untimely and shocking.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed grief over the demise of Cyrus Mistry. He said Mistry was not only a successful businessman but a young and someone whom one could see with hope.

Taking to Twitter, Harsh Vardhan Goenka, current chairman of RPG Group conglomerate said, Mistry, was a friend, a gentleman, and a man of substance. He was instrumental in creating the global construction giant Shapoorji Pallonji and ably led the Tata group.

The last rites of former Chairman of Tata Sons, Cyrus Mistry will be performed tomorrow at 10 am at Worli crematorium in Mumbai.
