Till now 301 growing samples have been tested in Diphu of which 192 have tested positive
Diphu : Followed by severe outbreak of dengue in Diphu and its suburb areas few months back which claimed three official deaths and nearly 200 positive cases, the Assam health department of Assam yesterday affirmed the outburst of dengue in this in Diphu the district headquarters of Karbi Anglong autonomous district.
Till now twelve patients, including two children, are enduring treatment in Diphu Medical College Hospital. Two infected patients are in the ICU while the two babies are in the pediatric ICU.
The Assam National Health Mission has officially stated that necessary technological procedures for dengue confirmation and case management have been completed, the health officials occupied in hospitals and medical colleges are fully equipped to deal with the situation.
Dengue, also known as “urban disease”, is considered as the next deadliest infection of malaria, has been considered as an extreme case and a rapid response team has been sent to the affected areas by the headquarters.
Till now 301 growing samples have been tested in Diphu of which 192 have tested positive. Of these, 60 samples were tested on Thursday and more than half of them, 33, have tested positive. Since October 2, some cases with indication of fever, annoyance, retro-orbital pain and vomiting from various localities of the town have been reported.
Maximum cases were treated at Diphu Medical College Hospital, Diphu. Most of them were tested with NS1 ELISA-positive.
The district health team is in touch with Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council authority; all transferred cases are being sent to the nearest health facility and to better care facilities. AASHA, Anganwadi workers and Mahila Arogya Samity ,Mobile medical units are being mobilized for health camps in strategic areas, in the hills.
