Dima Hasao Press Club submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam, through the Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao Haflong, Assam about false FIR against a journalist in order to intimidate, for his notice and necessary action on Saturday

The memorandum signed by President and Secretary Pankanj Timung and Suraj Barman maintained that the Correspondent of The Assam Tribune, Anup Biswas, and correspondent of News Live Swadeep Hasamsa on 22nd July at about 2.30 PM went to PIU NHAI Haflong to meet project director who according to the information remain absent from his duties for long.

Now after the reporting many other news agencies have started picking up the story of this irresponsible officer as this shows how a Central Government agency is wasting public money through their laid down attitude. This is equally reflected in the dilapidated condition of NH in Haflong to Nriambunglo to Harangajao route.

Now the said Project Director besides mending his own lack of commitment and ways has the audacity to file a false FIR against them for reporting the callous and irresponsible action of the said department.

This was a direct intention of intimidating journalists so that the irregularities are not reported and government officials can get away with the excuse of serving in difficult areas.

They believed that the Chief Minister and his office would take the matter to a logical conclusion and let them know the action taken report. These will provide precedence that the journalists of the states are not intimidated and there prevails a civilised environment of Fourth Estate being freely able to work in the state of Assam.
