The United Dimasa Youths organised a protest demonstration and rally in protest against the film ‘Semkhor’ by Aimee Baruah which misrepresents the Dimasa community on Thursday.
Hundreds of people from various parts of Dima Hasao assembled at Cultural Institute Hall ground, Haflong at 9.30 am then the rally marched up to Council Rotary and assembled in front of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Haflong.
The protesters were demanding immediate ban on Semkhor film by Aimee Baruah which has caused serious concerns among Dimasa Community for misrepresentation of Dimasa culture etc in her movie. They also demanded justice for the child who died after filming him in this movie. They further demanded an apology from director, producer and actress Aimee Baruah who have disrespected the Dimasa community in her film.
Later, a memorandum addressed to the President of India was submitted through the Deputy Commissioner. Youths from Semkhor said the film has shown Dimasa Community badly even claiming Semkhor does not develop, on the contrary, the people of Semkhor have been demanding development for a long.
