In a bizarre incident, at least three persons were killed and several other seriously injured by Dimasa National Liberation Army cadres at their designated camp at Manigipur, Maibang reportedly for no reason putting a big question to the peace process entered by the outfit.

It is learnt that earlier five cadres of DNLA had fled from the camp and they were brought to the camp and were punished a few days back.

But again, on Sunday midnight six civilians were picked up from various parts of Dima Hasao and beaten up mercilessly at the camp by the DNLA. Two of them succumbed to their injuries on Monday.

Sensing the danger of life of six civilians, villagers reached the DNLA camp at Manigipur but they were prevented to enter the camp.

The villagers then informed the Maibang police and with the help of Maibang police, they found two out of six were brutally killed and four others were also injured seriously. During their search, they also found five DNLA cadres who had fled the camp in seriously injured conditions. Then all the injured persons were rushed to the Haflong Civil Hospital where one cadre succumbed to his injury this morning.

The deceased were identified as Ramsen Langthasa (45) s/o Durja Langthasa  Borolalbung , Bimal Goswami of Guspati,  Langting and Aporat Langthasa (23) s/o Jokan Langthasa of Langaokro.

Those who were injured seriously are Mondesh Langthasa (34) s/o Nonsing Langthasa of Borolalbung Romesh Hagjer (42) s/o Saijya Hagjer of Borolalbung, Raju Ardao (18) s/o Deham Ardao, Borolalbung  Avinash Thaosen (18) s/o Phaijolal Thaosen Nutundilaothai, Nairingdao Bathari (19) s/0 Phonjit Bathari Hasin-2 , Jamunasingh Hasnu (26) s/o Naya Hasnu Hasin-2,  Joyprojit Nunisa (22) s/o Josolal Nunisa of Hajadisa,  Depolal Dibragede (20) S/o Joyso Dibragede of Longmailai Gunjung.

Meanwhile, Police arrested five DNLA cadres including deputy C-N-C for their involvement in the brutal killings of three persons and causing serious injuries to 9 persons who are fighting for their lives in Haflong civil hospital.

Additional SP Indraneel Barua talking to the media said all the culprits belonging to DNLA have been apprehended. Also, they have confessed their involvement in yesterday’s physical assault on civilians which left three dead Including one DNLA cadre.

Arrested DNLA cadres are Judisan Haflongbar@amerika, Pritamjit Jidung@galao, Dipholjit Langthasa@daoraja, Nabojit Phonglo and Notunjay Nunisa.
