Prizes were given to students who won in the various events
District level week-long celebrations of the 400th Birth Anniversary of Legendary Ahom General and National Hero Bir Lachit Borphukan concluded with day long program at District Library on Friday.
The occasion was organized by the Dima Hasao district administration in celebration of the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan, the famous General of the Royal Army of the Ahom Kingdom of Assam who defeated the Mughals and successfully halted the ever-expanding ambitions of the Mughals under Aurangzeb.
A visual of the celebration was live telecast and was shown from the national capital in New Delhi at District Library Auditorium hall, with the Prime Minister’s vision to honour the unsung heroes in a befitting manner. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi addressed the concluding of the week-long celebration of the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan in New Delhi today. The Prime Minister also released the book – ‘Lachit Borphukan – Assam’s Hero who Halted the Mughals’ on this occasion.
After the end of the visual live telecast programme, prizes were given to students who won in the various events that were held like an essay, art, extempore speech, and quiz competition in their respective schools of Dima Hasao.
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao Nazreen Ahmed, Principal Secretary, NCHAC, Thai Tsho Daulagupu, Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao, Mayank Kumar, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Lalrohlu Khiengte, Addl. Deputy Commissioner Kim Chin Lhangum, Inspector of Schools Gayatri Naiding, Principal of Haflong Govt. College Madhumita Daulagupu and others dignitaries and students.
