Haflong :The Dima Hasao District Congress Committee appealed to all the political and Social organsations of Dima Hasao to raise the demand of increasing the Legislative Assembly Constituency seats for Dima Hasao considering the future of their next generation.

This was said by Aripom Bodo, Vice-President DCC in a press meeting held at Rajiv Bhawan on Thursday wherein Kalijay Sengyung, Vice-President, DCC and Chairman, Delimitation Committee and L Hmar, etc. were present.

Bodo addressing the media said it was surprising that though there has been a long pending demand for an increase of the LA seats for Dima Hasao there was no mention of Dima Hasao in the recently published draft.

Thus there has been doubted among the mass that the representatives from the ruling government might not move for the increase of LA seats for Dima Hasao. On the other hand, the district of Karbi Anglong got another seat in the draft ie, earlier there were 4 LA seats now Karbi Anglong would get one more LA seat.

Mention may be made here that Dima Hasao DDC had submitted a Memorandum to the Delimitation Commission of India, Nirvachan Sadan, through the Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao, Haflong on March 23 demanding to rename the existing 16 Haflong (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency as 111 Haflong (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency and if there was any proposal for the increase of parliamentary or Assembly constituency in near future then demanded a separate (ST)Parliamentary Constituency for Dima Hasao District and one more (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency in the District of Dima Hasao being a 6th Schedule Tribal area.
