Diphu : Diphu the official headquarter town of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council has been standing to be a drug prone area for a long time, particularly fringe localities and slam areas. Due to some strange reason the state of affairs didn’t change to a considerable extent. The illicit trade proliferated.
Areas like Harilal Basti, Panbari, certain pockets of Dharamnala and Dewan Bast, Nawab Ali patty near Sitalabari, Bagmari have remained hot bed of drug trade. According to certain allegations certain voluntary organizations responsible for assisting the police and administration for maintaining law and order are clandestinely helping the drug traders; these need to be thoroughly investigated.

Most recent action of Inspector JS Khobung in charge officer of Diphu police station has propelled a severe warning sign against the wrongdoers, even though the measure of narcotic recovery is less.
In such a mission, Inspector Khobung and his team raided a private house last night around 8.30 PM, in ASEB market at the rear side of Hindi High School. The operation was mounted on the basis of a secret input regarding availability of narcotic substances.
The residence of one Ajoy Das aged around twenty six years was searched, he is the son of Lt. Homeswar Das, during search police team recovered 3.65 grams of alleged heroin concentrate concealed inside seven plastic tobacco containers and one small urn.
Police also seized three mobile handsets during the raid. Police have taken into custody other two persons along with Ajoy Das. Diphu police have registered case number 67/23 U/S 21(a) NDPS Act and the GDE No is 624 dated 28/06/23.
