Haflong : In a significant development, the District Archaeology Department under the administrative control of N.C. Hills Autonomous Council, Haflong has discovered new archeological site in Dima Hasao.
The District Archaeology Department under the administrative control of N.C. Hills Autonomous Council under the patronage of Chief Executive Member, Debolal Gorlosa, has always been taking the initiative parts in Archaeological Surveys in the District.
On 6th February, 2023, a new survey work was carried out by Archaeology Department with a team of few members like V.L Hmar, Bidisha Bordoloi, Amin Karigapsa, Jony Phonglo and Diram Villagers in DIMRAM Village some 60 KM from Haflong, the district HQ, under the supervision of Rebecca L. Changsan, ACS, Deputy Secretary and in-Charge District Archaeology, NCHAC, Haflong . Following which the team discovered Stone jars and several small mounds which seem to be the possibility of other unearthed stone jars etc. in the area.

Meanwhile the Archaeology Department informed the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council authority, Haflong for the Protection & preservation as further research works is required in Dimram Village under Dihangi Constituency.
STONE MONOLITHS from the Maibang Period are also found and unearthed at Maibang Rajbari on 17th February 2023. These ancient artifacts are now having been moved to safety place for preservation and protection by the District Archaeology Deptt. Dima Hasao, Haflong.
With the findings of such huge number of Stone jars at several places like Khobak, Boloson etc, and stone monolith in Maibang Rajbari area, proves Dima Hasao to be an archeological hub of glorious past of the district.
V.L Hmar one of the members of survey team informed this correspondent, that the department has been conducting survey works in and around Dimram village area today also. He opined that the Protection & preservation and further research works are required in Dimram Village.
