Assam police have again inflicted a blow against drug smugglers operating from Manipur and Nagaland to mainland Assam through the Karbi Anglong district. Police have seized pure heroin worth more than two crore rupees in prohibited markets in India.

The successful operation was executed just a day after Sanjib Saikia, the new Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong took over the charge. Netizens have appreciated the dynamism of the new police chief of the district.

Based on definite input, a singular police checkpoint was put up at Dillai Tiniali locality over national highway 29 (earlier 36) commanded by Dillai Police station around 10.15 am on Saturday. As anticipated the suspected Alto vehicle bearing registration no AS 04 E 0781 arrived from Dimapur city of Nagaland in the police ensnare.

The vehicle was intercepted by forces led by Sub Divisional Police Officer of Bokajan, Officer In charge of Khatkhati and Dillai police station, Jawans of C20 Central Reserve Police Force.

 After poking around the vehicle thirty soap boxes containing heroin weighing 384.56 grams were recovered.

The delivery was hidden inside a secret chamber in the rear of the passenger’s seat. In this connection the driver of the vehicle named Asemong Thupitor aged around thirty three years, resident of New Thiwati village, Meluri town located in Phek district of Nagaland was taken into custody. The accused is a temporary resident of Signal Colony of Dimapur, Nagaland.
