Launching a scathing attack on the central agencies, Assam Congress leader Jakir Hussain Sikdar said on Monday that the ED, CBI and Income tax Department are the branches of the Bhartiya Janata Party.
Assam Congress Working President Jakir Hussain Sikdar, while speaking to media, said, “ED & CBI are putting leaders behind bars who raise their voices against BJP’s corruption. The people of the country know that ED, CBI & I-T have only one work & that is to arrest leaders who speak against the BJP. One branch of BJP is ED, one is CBI and the other is Income tax”.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, earlier alleged that ED, EC and CBI are now not the institutions of the country but the weapons of the BJP and RSS.
“The institution of the country, whether it is ED, Election Commission of India or CBI, now they are not the institution of the country but the weapons of BJP and RSS. The ED, CBI and I-T are responsible for the current state of affairs. If these institutions had done their work, this would not have happened. They should think about this one day when the BJP government changes, then action will be taken and the action will be such that these things will not repeat again, I guarantee,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said.
Following Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Gopal Rai accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of forcing the probe agencies to send summons to the AAP chief.
“The summons are politically motivated. ED and CBI sends summons due to the pressure from BJP. Delhi CM has time and again said that it is illegal…ED approached the court saying that the summon was legal. The court granted bail to him (Arvind Kejriwal). Why are they so restless to send summons again and again. Let the court decide if it is illegal or legal,” Gopal Rai said.
