Eight Injured As Airport Building Collapses

Eight labourers were injured when a new construction of Electrical and Mechanical Workshop of Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal collapsed right after completion of concrete layering of the ground floor.

The incident happened when the first floor collapsed moments after the concrete layering was completed around 5pm on 18th September at the new construction site of Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.

While most of them sustained injuries in both hands, head and chest, two person sustained injuries in the whole body.  

They were evacuated to Regional Institite of Medical Science(RIMS) around 5:30pm. It is reported that conditions of some are  serious. 

Police, fire department, NDRF and officials of district administration rushed to the scene to rescue the labourers. None was trapped or buried in the ruins of the building.
