Electors Verification Programme from Aug 16; CEO Manipur seeks cooperation

Indicating that the programme will commence from August 16 and will go on till September 30, CEO Manipur, PK Singh appealed to all citizens to come forward and verify their electoral details in the electoral roll by providing any of the seven documents, namely, passport, driving license, Aadhar card, ration card, identity card for government or semi-government officials, bank passbook and farmer’s identity card.

With the objective of improving health of the electoral rolls as part of  the Special Summary Revision, 2020, Electors Verification Programme (EVP) will be launch in Manipur from August 16 as notified by Election Commission of India (ECI).

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur, PK Singh while announcing this during a press meet held on Thursday at his conference hall stated that the primary objective of the EVP is to verify electors’ details and indicate corrections in details, if any, including photographs and authentication of entry.

He informed that the EVP also aims to obtain details of family members and verified the entries, obtaining inputs about existing or probable polling stations, improving health of electoral rolls and to improve delivery of electoral services, he said.

Indicating that the programme will commence from August 16 and will go on till September 30, PK Singh appealed to all citizens to come forward and verify their electoral details in the electoral roll by providing any of the seven documents, namely, passport, driving license, Aadhar card, ration card, identity card for government or semi-government officials, bank passbook and farmer’s identity card. He also urged the electors to update their Elector Photo Identity Card with the latest colour photographs.

As part of the EVP, booth level officers (BLOs) will be visiting every household to verify the details of electors including those who opt for corrections during EVP and shall collect details of un-enrolled or dead or shifted voters in the month of September. 

As many as 630 Common Service Centres (CSCs) will be press in service for the purpose. Voters can verify their electoral details through the Voter Helpline mobile app or through the National Voter Service Portal, nvsp.in by visiting the nearest CSCs or by submitting a hard copy of the filled up forms through concerned booth level officers (BLOs) or electoral registration officers (EROs), informed PK Singh. 

While appealing to the citizens to take active part in the programme by verifying and updating their electoral details, the CEO sought cooperation from all concerned in purification of the electoral roll.

Prior to the press conference, CEO PK Singh gave away ex-gratia amount of Rs 15 lakh each to families of one Gouminlen Singson and W. Lalkham Thangeo, who passed away while on election duty of  the 17th Lok Sabha election.
