‘FANI’ Warning Across South India

With ‘Fani’ the severe cyclone prevailing over central Bay of Bengal , Humanitarian Aid Distress Relief (HADR) gears up to combat Natural calamity.

The sea condition is phenomenal over west central Bay of Bengal, north Tamilnadu, Puducherry, north Andhra Pradesh and south Andhra Pradesh Coasts during 01-03 May 2019. 

Gale wind speed reaching 180-190 kmph gusting to 210 kmph is prevailing over these areas during the next 24 hours and will decrease thereafter.

With wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 115 kmph over adjoining districts of north Andhra Pradesh (Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Vijayanagaram Districts) by 3rd May for subsequent 12 hours and significant decrease is expected thereafter. Most places of north coastal Andhra Pradesh are expected to have heavy to very heavy rainfall and extremely heavy falls (>20 cm) at isolated places likely over on 2nd May and with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on 3rd May.

Strong wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph are very likely hit along Comorin area, Gulf of Mannar and Kerala during next 12 hours.

As a preventive measures Naval Ships and Aircraft are at standby for rescue and relief. Ships at Visakhapatnam are standing with relief material for immediate deployment to the most affected areas to undertake Humanitarian Aid Distress Relief (HADR) operation.  Diving and medical teams are also kept ready augmenting rescue and relief efforts in Andhra Pradesh.
